Tracing the Tourism Village Kotagede
Kotagede name is already no stranger to our ears. One area in the city of Jogjakarta that became the center of the silver industry. However, few know that in the township in the area Kotagede has its own historical value because Kotagede is also the former capital of the Islamic kingdom of Mataram.

Kotagede is the name of a region in ancient times is the Capital of Islamic Mataram Kingdom. Currently Kotagede a silver in the central region of Yogyakarta.

We did not encounter any obstacles on your way Kotagede because it has many signs that steer. Kotagede road vehicles along narrow enough so we parked our vehicle in front of Market Market Kotagede or also called Legi. Next we walk down the road in the town.

We walk to the region developed as Kotagede Tourism Village. Nini locations are on the west of the cultural heritage Kotagede Mosque and Tomb Kings Kotagede. The road to the village is an alley that measuring approximately two meters and there has been no clear information boards so many less people know the existence of the tourist village.

Narrow alley to get to the Tourism Village area is quite crowded Kotagede bypassed by locals. When walking down the street in this alley, the building looks old house that stands extending to the tip and each house has a unique architecture of its own. There are a few striking buildings which house called House Peach.

Peach house is a house that belonged to Rudy Peach said his job was a businessman. In one of the doors there is an inscription that contains Lech Walesa, former Polish President and Nobel Peace Prize 1990-1995 of 1993 never stay there.

Our journey continue to go to a fork in the road that there is a Pos. Pos Pos Malaysia called on the walls there is a tourist map of the area Kotagede and a little explanation about the existence of Malang Pos.

Pos Malaysia is one of the open structure between the transverse and Gang Gang Soka Tumenggungan (hall to Dalem Tumenggung Mertalaya) in the village Jagalan. Pos Malaysia formerly OPAS or guarded by a security guard.

From Pos Malaysia, there is a building called Omah UGM. We wondered whether the oldest university in Indonesia has a special connection with the history of settlement in the town. Immediately, we rushed toward the building called Omah UGM. Conjecture turns out we were wrong, we found a joglo shaped building was new and after reading his statement stated that the building was recently purchased by the University of Gadjah Mada University several years ago to preserve the region Kotagede.

Omah UGM was the term for a custom home building owned by the University of Gadjah Mada. Before it was bought by GMU after the earthquake of 2006, this house is a family owned Darsono Parto. Located in Kampung Bodon, Jagalan. Omah UGM functioned as the Central Conservation Movement. Pendapa in Omah UGM complex is a new building which was established after the earthquake of 2006. While gandhok gazebo on the east side which collapsed in the earthquake, was rebuilt with the fixed wall to preserve the former are no longer intact. It is intended as a monument to remember the awesomeness 27 May 2006 earthquake that. These buildings are often used for various community activities in the field of heritage conservation. even since June 2010 until April 2010 to the office while REKOMPAK-Java Reconstruction Fund in cooperation with local residents in the area of ??heritage conservation program Kotagede

Rail Kotagede village we continue towards a point of historically valuable buildings high enough. Go to the other side, we visited the building called Traditional House. Although the building is quite historic, this building is still occupied by their owners. Less fortunate, we did not find the owners so reluctant to enter the building without permission. Finally we see the beauty of the architecture from outside the fence alone.

This custom home was built in 1750an using traditional Javanese architectural style with joglo roof. Consisting of palace buildings and gandok east. Apart from being home to live on past the house was used for the production of silver. Houses using wood frame structure, using brick wall and some wood. This house was severely damaged by the earthquake of 2006. In 2010 the building was rehabilitated by the palace and gandok REKOMPA-JRF and functioned as a public house.

Browse last village we headed to Omah Tumenggungan that there are two large buildings side by side. The building is also still used as a residence. But one of the building look less manicured than the other buildings. Either because their owners are often left to go so did not get cleaned regularly, or whether because of something else.

The second house is a family residence Tumenggung Mertalaya (House of the east side) and family bahoewinangun (west side of the house). Roofed buildings using Java architecture joglo. Bahoewinangun marquee home is the only hall in the town who use the hanging structure.

Finally we ended the cruise village in the town. Actually there are very many other old buildings that has a unique architectural and historical value, but because just the streets and just rely on a board that contains the description, we have little information about the Kampung Kota Gede. Maybe on the other occasion, we will visit the region accompanied by a guide or a historian, so we really understand about the historical development of this Kotagede village.
